How to Deal with Hair Loss as a Woman
As a woman, losing my hair wasn’t something I expected to happen so early on in my life. I should of known better though since my mom starting losing her hair around the age of 35 and I’m getting close to that point. Since having four kids, I have had some hair fall out, which has been tough on my self-esteem. I wanted to do something about it, but didn’t know where to start. I started to do some research. I was so pleased with what I found.
A clean scalp is a happy scalp
Keeping the scalp clear of waxy buildup creates a better environment for hair regrowth. I recommend shampooing every other day, for every type of hair. – Jill Crosby
Switch up your part
Experiment with flipping your part to the opposite side. By adding a little texture spray to the roots you can get a new voluminous flip started. Or try a look without a defined part – sometimes with fine hair parts can expose too much scalp. – Jill Crosby
Cut your hair shorter
I don’t know why this worked for me, but I recently cut off 6 inches of my hair and I feel it helped! I was no longer tugging at my hair to brush it out and the desire to throw it up in a hair tie was less likely. Now instead of gobs of hair coming it it’s a few strands here and there.
Ask for styling ideas from your stylist
I have done this so many times. My stylist knows everything. When I get a haircut from her, I ask for tips to help deal with hair loss as a woman. She is always super wise, which makes sense because she has the experience.
You’re not alone
Think about it, you are not alone when it comes to dealing with hair loss. There are early signs that you can pay attention to, which means you can take care of the problem early.
“Among women who experience hair thinning, 76% of women start to notice after the age of 30.”
Hereditary hair loss is treatable! Know the early signs:
- Thinning Hair – hair loses volume and density over time
- Hair Shedding – increased hair accumulation in shower, pillow, and hair brush. Most people lose between 50-100 hairs a day, which is considered normal hair loss; a consistent loss of 150 hairs a day is considered significant hair loss. If hair loss is sudden or patchy, consult a medical professional.
- Widening part or visible scalp – increased scalp visibility is a definite sign of hair loss
It’s so easy to use and can be used daily. The product is a foam making it super easy to use and I love that I can apply is in the morning and the evenings. Part your hair to maximize the scalp and massage it directly into the scalp. This product is a product I’m loving so far and I think you’ll love it too. Be sure to allow the product to dry.
I feel when I wear my hair straight down the hair thinning shows up more and makes me self conscious. By adding volume to my roots, allowing my hair to air dry and curling my ends I get a much fuller look that I love. This is my go to hair style and I feel so gorgeous with it!
If left untreated, hair thinning can worsen over time. Women can lose approximately one-sixth of their hair density over a period of 10 years. That’s a lot of hair loss!
