What you need:

  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 Tbsp Liquid Dish Soap
  • 3/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 Fresh Lemon
  • Sheet pan
  • Parchment paper
  • 1 Tbsp measuring spoon
  • Glass jar for storing

Directions:

Grab a medium sized mixing bowl and pour in your baking soda and salt and stir it together.  Grab your hand grater and grate the zest of 1/2 a lemon into your powder mixture.  Top off the lemon zest with 1 Tbsp of liquid dial soap.  Give it a good stir to make sure all the ingredients are mixed together.  Now Squeeze the lemon juice out of your fresh lemon little by little, stirring along the way.  You want to continue squeezing the juice and stirring until your mixture looks like wet sand and sticks together.  Now line a baking sheet with parchment paper and using your 1 tbsp measuring spoon pack the mixture into the spoon and place it on your parchment paper.  Allow to dry for at least 20 hours before using!

  1. Love this idea! I pinned it and am excited to try it. A mason jar filled with these would be great in a basket of goodies for a new home gift.
  2. Cool! I need to make some of these. Right now I just throw in a half of lemon or orange and some ice. But these would be handy having already made and just toss in when needed. Thanks for sharing your tutorial. Pinning!
