No matter how much you try, you can’t prevent your two-year-old from throwing a fit in the middle of the grocery store, adulting, or dealing with people who make you want to go crazy at work. However, you can take steps to de-stress your life. Here’s how.

Exercise is a natural stress reliever. It increases serotonin in your body which is the hormone that makes you feel happy. When your serotonin levels are up, your stress is down. Exercise also decreases your cortisol levels which are the main hormone that causes stress.

Learn to Say No

Sometimes, extra stress stems from the fact that we can’t say no. You don’t have to take on a class at church, offer to be the mom who picks up and drops off all the kids from baseball practice or take on more than you already do. If you have a lot on your plate, don’t take on any more.

You may not even realize you have a toxic person in your life. If you have a friend or family member who is always needing you, causing drama, or making life stressful for you, let that person go. You don’t have to completely rid them from your life, but maybe  try to limit your time with them.
