Leopard Kitchenaid Mixer Makeover

I love my Kitchenaid mixer and it’s a staple in my kitchen.  I use it for everything from making cookies to mixing up bread dough to shredding meat.  There are so many things you can do with the Kitchenaid mixer in the kitchen and the only downside is they’re only available in boring, solid colors.  Of course knowing me you know I had to give my Mixer a Makeup and turn it from Drab to Fab using some Vinyl Sheets and my Silhouette Cameo Machine.  I turned this basic black mixer into an over the top Leopard dream and I’m so in love with it.  This project is perfect for anyone and really can transform anything in your home.  My Vinyl from this project was purchased from Expression Vinyl and is the best quality you’ll find.

Supplies Needed:

Directions:

First you need to start with a clean Kitchenaid mixer to make sure vinyl is going to stick well.  I used a wet rag and a little baby soap to get it completely clean and than I let it dry for several minutes.  After your mixer is clean it’s time for the cutting part.

Open up the Leopard Spots design here and head over to the Silhouette Studio and open the file.  You will have to do a simple trace to convert this JPG to a silhouette cuttable file.

Load your printer with a 12 x 24 sheet of silver Vinyl (or whatever color you choose to use) and set your blade to a 2 and select vinyl as your cutting material.

Send the file to your cutter and wait until it’s complete and unload.

The first section that comes out is the perfect size for the top of your Kitchenaid mixer and will line up nicely.

Once you have removed the vinyl from the cutter, get your wedding tool ready and start removing all the inner spots and than remove the entire vinyl from the backing, leaving just the silver spots.

Next you’re going to take your Contact Transfer paper and lay it over the spots and rub it really good to get a nice stick.

Remove the backing from the vinyl sheet and lay the vinyl/contact paper on top of the mixer and press it really firmly and than peel off.

Repeat these steps for the sides and the bottom.  For the bottom portion I just peeled off the spots and strategically placed them were I found it suitable.

That’s it!  Your project is complete, it looks fantastic and it’ll last a LONG time!! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I hope you’ll visit the blog again soon!
