Deer Mug for the Holidays

December 8, 2014 by Brittany Leave a Comment

The days are cold and the nights are even colder so having a hot cup full of Hot Chocolate is on my nightly to do list. Just imagine some hot chocolate, whipped creamed and topped off with some shreds of Hershey’s Kisses! It’s heaven in a mug. Since I’m using a mug daily I thought it’d be fun to give it a little decoration and with the help of my Silhouette Machine I now have this gorgeous Deer Mug. Deers are the biggest rage right now so these mugs would make an excellent gift for the holidays.

Deer Mug Final

Supplies Used

  • Plain White Mug (Purchased mine from the $0.99 store)
  • Silhouette Cutting Machine
  • Deer File
  • Hot Chocolate Mix
  • Vinyl
  • Transfer Tape

Tutorial

I headed over to the Silhouette online store and knew I wanted to do a mug design solely focuses on deer headssince that’s the biggest rage right now. I came across the file Deer Head Sets and best of all it’s only $0.50 so I was very excited to snatch this one up. Once you purchase your file head over to your Silhouette Design Software and upload into a new document. For this particular project I only used the deer in the middle so upon opening the file I right clicked and selected release compound path. Next I right clicked again and selected ungroup and remove the side deer heads and only focused on the one. I resized the head to a total of 3.5″ x 3.5″ and headed over to cut settings. Be sure to select Vinyl as your cutting material and set your blade on your machine to a 2.

After the cut was complete I removed the excess vinyl, applied my transfer paper and applied to the center of the mug. I eyeballed placement and it turned out perfect. Best of all these mug can be used year round and isn’t solely for Christmas Season. I’m in love are you? This would make the most perfect gift for any hunter or anyone living in the country.
