I am always looking for a great place to take my kids. With a new one arriving in just a few short weeks, I’ve been trying to spend extra time with the kids. With this in mind, the San Diego Zoo has been a favorite of ours. I remember my parents taking me to the San Diego Zoo when I was a kid. This year it is extremely special for the zoo because it turns 100 years old! If you’re interested in visiting the zoo, now is the most perfect time. Here’s why!

One of the reasons I’m so gung-ho about the San Diego Zoo is that they are a leader in the “zoo” world. In fact, it’s more than just a zoo. It’s a way for people to connect with wildlife on a very personal level.

I can’t ever think of a visit to the zoo that ends badly. My family always has magical memories of the San Diego Zoo. In fact, now is the perfect time to go at night, you get to experience San Diego Zoo Nighttime Zoo! How fun is it for kids to experience the zoo at night?

The History of the Zoo

What’s pretty cool about the San Diego Zoo is that it was created in 1916. It started with one lion and one man and has developed into a zoo that is making history. Dr. Harry Wegeforth was the founder of the zoo and the foundations in which he built the zoo is still being followed today!
